Blessed are the Peacemakers
March 21, 2007 on 8:21 pm | In TCADP actions | No Comments |“On Sunday, March 18, friends of Lee Rivers gathered to dedicate a tree that had been planted by TCADP to honor Lee’s memory and to recognize his long and faithful opposition to the death penalty. Brant Copeland, minister of First Presbyterian Church, conducted the brief ceremony. The tree, a flowering cherry, is in McCarty Park (in the middle of Park Avenue, between Adams and Duval Streets). A plaque beside the tree carries the inscription, ‘In memory of Lee Rivers, faithful member of Tallahassee Citizens Against the Death Penalty. Blessed are the Peacemakers.’
The next time you are downtown, stop by and visit Lee’s tree.”
